Matte laptop screens are perhaps the first ones to be used in the first laptop computers. The glossy screens appeared just before the LED screens. How to know the laptops screen is a glossy screen?

There are so many ways to know whether the screen is a glossy screen. Well, it is the reflections that will tell you about it. Of course, glossy screens also have anti-reflection coating. However, you will still see reflection if you tilts the screen to a certain angle. The reflection is always noticed especially if there is any light source present.

Even though matte screens are traditional ones and were the first to be used in laptops, they are still used in many laptops. This is because some users do not like the reflections on their laptop screen.

When it comes to image quality, there is not much difference. So, if the image quality is your most important consideration, then both screens can work for you. However, it  is important to note that the glossy screens were introduced mainly because they can better reproduce images. For instance, if you compare an Acer Swift that has a matte screen and Asus laptop with the glossy screen, and you have an image of with the same properties, you won’t see much difference in the image quality. However, you will notice that the Acer screen doesn’t have reflections.

The main difference between matte and glossy screen is that from glossy laptop screens with LED backlight, your eyes will get less strained. This is because the glass filters out the ultra violet light. This means that in terms of eye protection, the glossy laptop screen is the best choice.
