Filmmaking is a very intriguing process and it is something that can excite you to the core. Working in film industry is very challenging and demands lot more perseverance than you can imagine. This work may look very adventurous and glamorous to all, which by the way it sure is in reality but along with the limelight there comes a lot of hard work and turmoil.
The story of direction starts with the casting process followed by rehearsing and then building the characters. It is the responsibility of the director only to start building strong relations on the set. The relation amongst actors and the entire production team is nurtured by the director only. Along with the entire load of direction of movie, a director has to take care of practically everything from props, wardrobe, script, delivery, performance, angles, shots, and many other things.
The relation between the actors and the director
The whole concept of a great result comes only with great tuning. It is very important for the director to understand the actor’s thoughts and how they want to work. The perfect understanding between both of them would give great results on screen. The director must give proper instruction to the actor but at the same time give them the freedom to put their own ideas.
Director Mikael Marczak feels that a movie is always the brain child of lot of people and everyone has a very important role to play. Director for example is the sailor of the ship. He is the one who has to make sure that everybody is working together and are on the same page. It is his potential to make everything work and to solve all the crises that arise every second on the set.
Being a fascist is the most rookie mistake for any director
Sometimes the naïve directors get too much into the scene and they tend to lose patience. It is a well known fact that in the process of filming a lot of people might lose their temperament at many levels due to creative differences. At this point, the director must take the charge and clean all the mess that can cause turmoil. It is very important that the director gives the actor enough space to bring out their best performance. Too much of guidance over every single expression can ruin the actors natural acting. The actor will become so cautious that they will end up being extremely nervous and will not be able to deliver what is intended.
Motivating the actor instead of demoralizing them is one thing that the directors should take care of. At the end it is the actor who is going to sell the story with his skills on screen. Those skills can get hampered if you keep pinpointing towards everything that goes bad. You need to have very positive attitude on the sets, so that everybody can give their best shot. After all, filmmaking is a concoction, where everybody works hard to give a great movie to the audience.
